Creating a castor oil poultice is a natural way to encourage toxin cleansing in your lymphatic ststem, which will help when you are suffering with PMS or menopause symptoms.
Soak an old small washcloth in castor oil and place it over your abdomen. Cover it with another towel and then a hot water bottle.
Not only are you helping your body to clear out toxins, but the hot water bottle relaxes your muscles as well!
Every six months it is a good idea to keep your plumbing clean and clear.
For each drain in your home, depending on the size of the drain, take 3-6 Tbsp of baking soda, pour in 1-2 cups of vinegar. Allow the fizzy mixture to do it's explosion magic for about 2-3 minutes, while you boil 8 cups of water in your kettle.
Pour the boiling hot water down the drain to finish the job.
Keeping your drains clean and clear naturally every six months saves you from running to a toxic or expensive emergency solution later.
I
learned this tip first hand after my husband used the cutting board to cut
blueberries in half, then didn’t clean it up!
Just
grab a good natural sponge, get it wet and put 1-2 tbsps of baking soda on the
pre-dampened cutting board.Scrub and rinse
well.Stains are good as gone!
Natural cleaners are easy, inexpensive and great for the
earth!
I love
this easy organizational tip.Use an old
tissue box with a narrow slit to hold your plastic bags.It will hold so many, yet be organized in a
drawer.Even though I rarely have a
plastic grocery bag in my home, since I bring my cloth bags everywhere I go,
there are still bags to be saved from loaves of bread and other packaging.
Keep your closet and drawer clean and free from
plastic bag takeover!
Love
this tip, as mossy roofs are commonplace where we live!
Take a small box of baking soda and mix
it with 2 gallons of lukewarm water. Dissolve thoroughly. Spray the water
mixture of the moss on the roof and let dry. After a day or two, the moss will easily clean away! This is best to do in late winter and early
spring. This inexpensive treatment will not prevent the moss from returning,
but you can feel good that you are keeping your home toxin free.
Ah, the
busy season is upon us.So much to
do.Cookies to bake, shopping to do,
gatherings to plan.
Here’s
a way to save time.Make a list of all
the items you feel you have to do this season, now pick one item that you could
possibly forgo.Instead of baking
gingerbread to build the house, buy a kit, instead. Are you on one too many volunteer committees?Pick one that doesn't inspire you and
let them know you need to step back this year.
The holidays are about joy.Allow your joy to come from a balanced life.
Mold is
not good for your lungs as well as being unsightly!Next time you come across the fuzzy stuff on
your walls or bathroom, take a spray bottle and fill it with white vinegar. No need for anything else!
Plain
vinegar can kill up to 82% of mold strains.Leave it on for a day, and you will see the mold disappear with the
vinegar smell!
Next time your mold comes to visit, just tell it: “The
Moldinator will be back!”
Many easy liquid drain clearing products are expensive and extremely bad for the environment.
Next time you have a bad clog, try this natural tip.
Use 1 cup of baking soda (as far into the drain as you can)
Use 3-5 cups of white vinegar (no need for the gourmet stuff here) and pour it into the drain. Allow it to do it's magic for about 3-5 minutes, This is fun for the kids to watch, too!
Pour 1/2 gallon or more of boiling hot water straight down the drain.
Surprise! Your drains are now clear, or you have a much more serious problem that even a toxic solution won't fix.
Make sure to follow this procedure with all of your drains and really clear them out!
Feeling rushed around too much this week? It is probably time for you to slow down.As women, we are so good at multitasking, we
assume we are built to live our lives that way.You know what I mean: dishes and talk on the phone, play a game with the
kids while folding laundry, and drive while we eat our meals.
Here is a radical thought:Just do ONE thing at a time!
Try this for one hour.Set the timer and be conscious to only focus
on one thing at a time.If you love it,
see if you can try it for one whole day!
You might just find
yourself slowing down with a sense of the rhythm of life!
It's fire season again!Reuse and recycle while you make great fire starters for the coming
season.
Use old cardboard egg cartons (not plastic or Styrofoam)
real wood shavings from a local lumber yard or your own shredded paper from
your office, and left over candle bottoms or canning wax.
Stuff each egg carton full of shavings or shredded
paper.Heat the wax high and pour so
that it soaks into the cardboard carton. Please protect the surface you make these on! After they cool, break the carton into 12 pieces.
Now you have a fire starter that
burns really hot and won’t go out until you have a nice warming fire.
Restaurant or high quality knives are good for more reasons
than just better cutting.
Did you know that using inexpensive knives for slicing up
your juicy reds, can brown apples faster?
Small, unnoticeable corrosion that happens on low-grade steel knives creates an increase in the iron
salts on the apple, actually making your slices brown faster!
Throwing out our useless razors all the time is hard on our environment and is an extra step for us to constantly to have a sharp one handy. Try this with your next razor.
Once you finish shaving, rinse it well, then when you dry yourself off with your towel, dry off your razor, too!
Research has found (yes, there is razor research!) that oxidation and microscopic rusting is the real reason for jagged and blunt edges.
Drying your razor daily will help it to last an extra 2 weeks to 5 months, depending on use!
Don’t throw your sponges away just because you can’t get the
bad smell out of them. (This works better
than washing them in the washer or dishwasher.) Rinse and squeeze them out, then put them in
the microwave for one minute. This kills
the germs and bacteria that creates the odor.
Continue to do this and add many lifetimes to your sponge!
