Visionally Challenged
success

Dear Rain,

I have been on a 45-day goal challenge and I have had the complete vision of what I wanted to do, I can see it, feel it and breathe it. However since last night, I don't know what happened, but the vision has disappeared. I feel that I can't do it for some reason. I don't know whether it is because the challenge is nearly over and I won't have time to complete it before then or that I won't ever complete it. My mind has gone completely blank from any ideas that I was going to do. I feel like I have given up already and don't know how to get the vision and drive back.

Dear Reader,

Congratulations on taking on a powerful and positive goal oriented challenge. You sound like you are ready for the next steps in your life. You had a complete vision of what you wanted to do, and now you say it is gone, though you also said you can’t do it for some reason.

I have learned to be so sensitive to words, because in our words we find our own answers.

If you go on the assumption that you can’t do it, I am sure you won’t, for I believe it is true what we think about, we bring about.

If you go on the assumption that the vision is gone and disappeared, my question is, how did you find your vision the first time? What did you do to sustain it? Ah YES! Visions are but fleeting gifts.

Many times these gifts are given to us and we believe them to be permanent. We get passionate, excited, on-fire and full of energy. We know this is a gift and we are thrilled to get moving on it. What we don’t do a lot of times is the work to create support systems to stay on our journey when the vision is gone.

Because your vision is gone, doesn’t necessarily mean that the path must change. It just means that at some point you need to be the one who carries the light. Creates the spark. Follows the dream. And when you can’t you might want to hire a professional. After all, 80% of a coach’s job is to cheerlead and encourage stamina for the big game!

For instance, my vision for creating this site was a long one. It took over 6 months to complete it. My vision disappeared so many times. Sometimes I wanted it to, sometimes I forced it to, and sometimes it just did. Luckily, I moved forward. I had my life coach, I had my support systems in place and I kept going forward. If I would have allowed my downturn to stop me, you would not be reading this right now!

How do you create the spark once again? One fun tool is to close your eyes and remember what it felt like when you first had your vision and you were sure this was the answer to your prayers. You knew that it would be a huge success. You could see it, feel it and breathe it.

Allow yourself to go back and feel it again. Take your time. Let it come back to you.

On the other hand, putting yourself into a deadline with 45 days to follow through with an idea is exciting, challenging and a lot of the time, just impossible. They say it takes the average person 6 months to a year to make a business come together, and 90% of them don’t stick around after 5 years. Giving yourself 45 days, depending on what you are trying to accomplish, is probably not enough time to pull it altogether, and think of everything you need to think of, to be successful in 5 years.

Fear of not completing your dream on schedule very well might have thrown your vision into hiding. Next time, pick one or two tasks from the project to accomplish. You will feel successful and excited to complete your tasks. Remember, these tasks are just steps to the ultimate goal.

One thing I want you to walk away with is that success rarely happens overnight. That is why it makes big news when it seems to. Think how long it took for women to finally have the right to vote. It is consistency, not just the fabulous idea that brings final success.

Now maybe this vision wasn’t meant to be, if you are ready to let it go easily. Maybe next time you have a goal, you will try again. Just remember to keep your vision front and center. This is why business plans are one of the recommended first tasks. Make a mission statement. Create a vision board. Create your support systems.

Know that through consistency, you will eventually find the goal, the dream, the monetary and joyful success!

smiles and inspiration!
